International Students

Each Year more than 70 international students study at Augustana. During 1994-1995 interested students formed the International Students' Council in order to:

  • serve as the official avenue for channeling issues and concerns to the Augustana Students' Association and the Augustana administration
  • assist in the orientation of new international students
  • promote the respect and interest of different cultures on campus
  • assist Augustana in achieving its mission and educational goals
  • plan for cultural, social and educational events

You are welcome to participate in the work of this council. Begin by attending the Orientation Session for international students scheduled during the first week of classes in September.

Because international students have some special needs and concerns, an advisor is available to give counsel and advice on concerns ranging from personal problems to difficulties with immigration.  The international student advisor (ISA) is Mark Chytracek, the Director of Student and Residence Services. His office is located in Room 217 of the Faith and Life Centre. The ISA handles referrals, liaison and advocacy regarding international students.
