India
Every other year Augustana offers a three-week summer study tour of India which focuses on the intersection of religion and development. Visits are made to Indian universities and to a number of development sites animated out of the contexts of the Hindu, Christian, and Sikh traditions, among others. Following its winter-term prerequisite, this three-credit course in either Religion or Economics provides an avenue for students to explore a majority-world country in a manner which makes them feel safe and secure. First-hand experiences with Indian people and organizations gives students an in-depth understanding of India, its cultural and religious diversity, and the challenges it faces in the 21st century.
