Dr. Roger Epp

Dr. Roger EppRoger Epp is Dean of the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta, where he is Professor of Political Studies. A native of rural Saskatchewan, and a graduate of the University of Alberta (B.A., Honours) and Queen’s University (M.A., Ph.D.), he has taught at Augustana since 1990. He is a past recipient of Augustana’s Distinguished Teaching Award.

As a scholar, Dr. Epp’s research has shifted to the rural prairie context from which he and many of his students come. His current interests include rural community development, political economy, land-use conflict and settler-aboriginal relations. His most recent work is We Are All Treaty People: Prairie Essays. He is also a contributing co-editor of the book Writing Off the Rural West: Globalization, Governments, and the Transformation of Rural Communities (2001), and co-producer of the two-hour documentary, “The Canadian Clearances,” which was first broadcast on CBC Radio’s Ideas programme in September 2004. Dr. Epp is a frequent media commentator and speaker on rural issues. He is also a co-editor of the textbook Braving The New World: Readings in Contemporary Politics, and has published extensively on the subject of international relations theory. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
