Concert Facilities
The Augustana Faculty has a 450-seat University Chapel which serves as its primary concert venue.
This venue has excellent acoustics and is in demand as a concert, rehearsal, and recording space. It has been used for CBC broadcasts and by recording companies.
The University Chapel's resident instruments include a 2009 Steinway 9-foot grand piano and the Lede Memorial Pipe Organ (built in 1987 by Gabriel Kney, two-manual, 13 rank, tracker action).
Practice Facilities
Classrooms are up-to-date, and furnished with upright and grand pianos, audio-visual equipment, and computer projection. New state-of-the-art practice facilicies are located in the Faith & Life building and comprise 9 practice rooms and 1 ensemble room. each furnished with either a grand or upright piano, and computer & video equipment. Two classrooms are available for rehearsing as well.
Augustana currently has 6 grand pianos (including 3 Steinways), 12 acoustic uprights, and 3 electronic keyboards which are used for rehearsing, teaching, and performing.
Computer Facilities
The Augustana campus has complete computer access for students, staff, and faculty. For students, a 24 seat computer lab is available and can be used for music courses and compositional projects. Additionally, the Library offers a 65 seat Information Commons. There is one Computer Lab in Residences.
In addition, each residence room has wired and wireless Internet coverage. The Augustana Campus is covered by the University Wireless Service (UWS) providing campus-wide wireless network access to all Augustana and University of Alberta constituents.
Library Facilities
Augustana's new library has a substantial music collection of scores, books, periodicals, and sound recordings, which continues to be expanded. CDs and scores may be signed out by students for use both within and outside of the Augustana Faculty library. Within the library, music students have full access to on-line indexes, including ones valuable for music research. In addition to being a wireless hotspot, it provides access to approximately 100 computer workstations, a variety of student workspaces, and Writing Center consultation rooms. Fully wheelchair accessible, it boasts large windows and wonderful ravine views.
Augustana is a key player in the University of Alberta and NEOS library systems, linking with over 20 libraries which allows students to receive resources from other University of Alberta campuses and other institutions within a reasonable time frame.
