Events

The following suite shapes the work of the Centre. Scholarship and the community of scholars are central to our public programming and the work of the Chester Ronning Centre while rooted in scholarship and the community of scholars also finds its proper home within the public square, public institutions and religious communities. The debate in the public square on issues and themes where religious and civil spheres are both engaged is central to our particular scholarly initiatives.

Augustana Distinguished Lectures / Theological Lectures
The Augustana Distinguished Lectures were initiated through a bequest from the family of Magda and George Hendrickson. For many years the initial bequest supported library acquisitions at Augustana University College. The Augustana University College had a long tradition of providing Theological Lecture Series. Ronning Centre Distinguished Visiting Fellow

The Augustana Distinguished Visiting Fellows are funded by the Ronning Centre Endowment for Distinguished Visiting Fellows. Fellows are invited to join the work of the Centre for a period of time to present papers and initiate conversations on select topics in their areas of research as it relates to religion and public life. Café on Religion and Public Life 
Each café will be hosted by the Centre and held in a café in Camrose, Edmonton and other urban centres. One or two advocates of a particular position will be invited to speak and engage in a reflection on a particular issue or theme. [More...]

Study Circle on Religion and Public Life
Fellows and Associates of the Centre will be available to work with a specific religious community for a study day on issues and themes rooted in the religious tradition hosting the event. [More...]
